Sermon On the Net

PROPHETIC FULFILLMENT

I have been looking for books on fulfilled prophecy and have not had much luck finding any. The other day I happen to look in the Bible index and lo and behold, I saw something I never saw before. There it was, all the prophecy info I wanted. And then it suddenly dawned on me to look at a book I've had for sometime and again there it was, all the info I ever wanted about the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. The Bible says that God does everything in His own time, and again, I have to agree with the Word of God. He revealed the sources to me when it was necessary.

The Old Testament was written over a period of 1000 years, its completion in 450 B.C[1] There are over 300 prophecies* in the Old Testament concerning Jesus Christ which have been fulfilled. If evidence 50% as accurate as this were found in the scientific community, it would be presented on the cover of Time Magazine as the most amazing discovery of the 21st century. Since most will not put this article to study and the fact that these articles might be put under scrutiny, I have learned through the process of discovery a little research goes a long way in determining the truth. It is not my intention to cover every fulfilled prophecy, but I will discuss enough of them to at least convince us (hopefully) that what we accept as literal, is.

The following paragraph mentions a small number of the 300+ prophecies fulfilled. As I mentioned earlier, it's difficult to imagine, with such overwhelming evidence that the scriptures are viewed not only as accurate but supernatural as well and still some don't believe, (hardened hearts as Jesus says). Evidence That Needs a Verdict is the title of Josh McDowell's first book on this subject. I have Josh's new book titled, New Evidence That Needs A Verdict from which I have taken the liberty of using much of his material in addition to the Bible itself. My motto is, if it isn't in the Bible don't believe it. If you would like to have an invaluable book in your library I would suggest you buy Josh's book.

The first of a series of prophecies concerning the birth of Jesus begins with Genesis 3:15 and is fulfilled in Galatians 4:4 and Matthew 1:20. Isaiah 7:14 prophecy…"therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Emmanuel." Psalm 68:18 prediction fulfilled in Acts 1:9. Psalm 110:1 prediction fulfilled in Hebrews 1:3.

There were 58 prophecies fulfilled in one day. There are 29 prophecies from the Old Testament which speak of the betrayal, trial, defeat and burial of our Lord Jesus Christ. They were spoken at various times by many different voices during the five centuries from 1000-500 B.C. Yet all of them were literally fulfilled in Jesus in one 24 hour period of time*. I pray you will find this article both encouraging and heart warming. I found it to be that, as well as challenging.

I just reviewed the above and am speechless; how hard can one's heart be?
