WATCH FOR HIM
Luke 12: Jesus instructs the disciples to be aware of false teachings of the Pharisees in verse 1: “Be on your guard against the yeast (teachings) of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” He tells them not to be concerned with those who cannot harm their soul but to be very concerned with the one who can; they are to trust in Him only. Jesus told them that He would honor anyone in Heaven that honored Him on earth, conversely He would deny those who denied Him on earth. He tells them that one who speaks against Him can be forgiven but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit (accusing the Holy Spirit to be demon possessed (i.e., getting power from Satan) would never be forgiven. He further instructs them to not be concerned with what they say before rulers and authorities because the Holy Spirit will teach them what to say when necessary.
Jesus told them a parable of a rich man who was more concerned with his wealth than his soul and as a result lost his life. Verse 21: “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.” He tells them not to worry or be concerned about the things of the world because He will provide for them. He told them how He provided for the animals of the world and they are much more important to Him. He comforted them by assuring them that the Father knows their needs and they will be taken care of. They are to be more concerned with the treasure they store in Heaven than anything on this earth.
Jesus wants them to be watchful and ready at all times, never knowing when He will be back. Jesus explains the responsibility being given them and they should be very conscious of the services they are to perform for Him. For who is given much, much will be expected and so forth; verse 48: “…From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”
His last point in this chapter was the fact that His presence on earth would result in a division of family members. This is not something He wanted but knew that this would happen because some will follow His ways and some will not. He advises them very strongly that people should get things straight while they are still on the earth and have the time, otherwise they will be accused and found guilty and suffer the consequences of damnation.
My friends, we have the opportunity now to get ourselves on the pathway to Heaven. Once we are before the Judge there will be no verdict other than guilty and terrible consequences will follow. I don’t know about you but as for me, I do not want to spend eternity separated from my God. If you will pray this simple prayer you too will be with Him forever; Father I know I am a sinner and I am sorry for my sins, I confess them to you in the name of Jesus and accept Him as my Savior. I thank you Father for the sacrifice He made for me on the cross, Amen! If you prayed this simple prayer in sincerity we will meet in Heaven and all its glory. Jesus guarantees it, I believe it.
